POLICIES

ACEcon Policies

By signing in, you agree to the following policies:

RESPECT

It is important to treat everyone and everything with respect. Everyone here has come to have a good time – con-goers, vendors, and volunteers. Show them courtesy. Please do not touch the costumes, props, or bodies of fellow con-goers without permission. Treat this entire area as if you were on the set of a PG-13 movie. No foul language, no displays of violence, no derogatory comments.

It is important to treat our area with respect. Let off steam outside, but please do not go into the plant bushes. Do not run in the library. Please keep your voices at an indoor level when you go into the main area of the library, outside of the event areas.

PHOTOGRAPHY

A costume is not permission to automatically take a photo. Respect your fellow con-goers and ask permission to take a photo of or with them. Respect them if the
answer is no.

Con-goers should be aware that some news outlets and library staff might be taking photographs for posterity. Entering the convention area means that a photograph may be taken with you somewhere in it if we are doing wide shots.

COSTUMES

We encourage a broad range of costumes! But please follow Florida public decency laws – and a little more than that. Staff reserves the right to ask you to cover up within our county building. Again, think of this area as the set of a PG-13 movie. Shoes are required at all times.

WEAPONS/PROPS

At both libraries, we are allowing large props and weapons. If you bring a live-steel weapon, it must be able to be peace-bound into its sheathe, or we will ask you to leave it off the premises. Projectile weapons such as bows must be too slack to fire. Guns must be of a prop nature, unable to fire, with an orange tip, and the trigger will be peace-bound. You may pose with your weapons or props, but do not engage your weapons with another’s weapons or with another person.

Weapons and large props must be checked in at Weapons’ Check before entering.

LIABILITY

Palm Harbor Library nor SPC Tarpon Springs Library is not liable for any loss, damage, theft, or injury that occurs due to the actions of fellow con-goers. Con-goers are responsible for their own actions and any consequences thereof.

We will have staff and volunteers at as many areas as possible for assistance. If you believe someone is breaking a policy or the law, inform a staff or volunteer member. They will be identifiable by an ACEcon badge on a lanyard.

ACEcon and Library staff members reserve the right to interpret these policies as needed for public safety.

Staff has the right to remove anyone violating any policy or law from the premises.

Nothing contained in this policy shall be considered a waiver of sovereign immunity or the rights contained in Florida Statute Section 768.28.
