Pre-register for the contest at any time on either day of the convention. The registration table will be by the information table in both locations. Be ready to walk at 3:00 PM on Sunday at SPC Tarpon Springs Library!

 

If you do not pre-register to be judged, we will accept walk-ons if time allows, but you will not be eligible for winning a prize.

 

The rules for the contest are as follows:

 

1. All costumes must be PG-13. Costumes that do not abide by the decency standards outlined in our policies are not acceptable.

 

2. All large props must go through ACEcon’s Weapons Check. If your prop has not been registered, you cannot enter it into the contest. Do not throw any projectiles into the audience- this will result in immediate disqualification.

 

3. Please bring a reference photo for the judges if possible. This will help the judges consider the accuracy of your costume. If the character is an original concept, your drawings can be used instead. Progress photos are encouraged but not required.

 

4. At least 75% of the costume must have been made by you in order to qualify for most awards. Costumes that are mainly thrifted or altered will be placed into a separate category.

 

5. Contestants may enter the costume contest as individuals or in a group. Each contestant can only enter one costume and one prop into the contest, unless they are part of a group.

 

6. Contestants must pre-register for the contest.

 

7. Judges’ decisions are final. Please be honest about the work put into your costume.
