History's Mysteries

I had to do a report in history on old unsolved mysteries and Cam said I had to do something about the disappearance of the Roanoke Colonists. So I looked into it and realized that Cam wanted me to do this because it is absolutely ridden with conspiracy theories.

For those who don’t know, Roanoke was one of the first colonies, but it wasn’t doing well, so John White, the guy who led the expedition, went back to England for supplies, and a series of unfortunate events later, he came back after like two years and found everyone missing with the only clue being “Croatoan” written on a tree.

I think they tried to sail back after White didn’t return and got lost at sea. But I really like the idea that a witch cursed them all into being trees. I mean, that’s obviously not what happened but it’s way more fun than they turned to cannibalism.

I once heard a theory that there was a zombie plague but that because it was an island it was self contained and they all died out!
